Recent testimonials from our happy clients:

[Steve] kept everyone focused on getting the shots done that we requested. You made the wedding party comfortable and were able to make everyone smile. We trusted you and knew that the pictures would be beautiful, and they are. It was the best money we spent on our wedding.

~Tammy & Cesar Mancha

From start to finish everything went so much better than we could have hoped for; we have memories to last a lifetime. Thank you, Steve, for making our day perfect.

~Tami & Donny Waltz

The phone meeting with Marsha to go over the details of the wedding, family, etc. was very helpful. Joel's willingness to try different poses and shots was great. Also working with Angie to go over the photos for our album was helpful.

~ Cory & Stephanie Williamson

It was helpful to keep in touch; we felt like you got to know us a bit ... Steve was very well prepared, very patient, and helpful throughout everything.
We never felt rushed or stressed about any pictures. Keep taking great pictures!

~Chris & Natalie Murray

The weather was terrible the day of our wedding, but Steve managed to find a spot where we could take the outdoor pictures and our pictures look like they were taken on a perfect fall day.

~Matt Davies & Michelle Banta

Steve spent a lot of time talking to us about the wedding photographer process, showing us wonderful previous work, and put our mind to ease about making decisions about a photographer. Joel (our photographer) continuously asked if he was doing a good job. He was interested in our needs and wants.

~Justin & Toni Plecko

The staff was very organized in getting the necessary information so we would get all the pictures we wanted taken the day of our wedding. Steve was great on the day of the wedding. He was calm and had a great sense of humor. The entire photo session just flowed nicely with no stressful moments.

~ Brad & Kristi Meyer

It was helpful to go over the shots we wanted prior to the wedding, planning before hand made the day go very smooth. Having the Go-Between was the most helpful! She was there for us to catch everything we missed. Clear directions and everything was on schedule.

~ Nick & Sarah Dagostino

Talking with Marsha on the phone and having her answer my questions about clothing was very helpful. Both Steve and Joel kept it light and fun, making us feels comfortable so the photos didn't seem “forced.”

~Lynda & Alex Pepin

[They] took time to walk us through the process, and made sure all our questions and concerns were answered. Steve and Marsha are wonderful. They listened to all of our ideas, which in turn we got all the photos that we wanted. They were great!

~Merissa & Tommy Browning

We talked through everything...which made everything clear and stress free…we never had to worry “Where's the photographer? Is he coming?” Everything was perfect. Steve was very helpful, we loved the digital part letting us see the pictures as they were being taken.

~Kelly & David Lauer

It was helpful to have someone appointed to assist with group pictures and to watch as the pictures came up on the T.V. to catch little things.

~Amy & Adam Mahowald

Joel kept things moving and low key.

~Amy & Matt Holbrook

Steve captured every moment, feeling and memory! You guys have done a great job and we were glad we were able to order more reprints more than a year past our wedding.

~Laura & Vince Armstrong

Steve took a lot of pictures and it was nice to get some candid shots.

~Eric & Leann Wells

"Steve has dedicated his life to capturing memories and histories of everything around him. His camera never leaves his hand and your face will never leave his eyes. He has wandered and wondered as a vagabond of life for almost 40 years as a photographer and visual historian. Steve's important contribution to the human race discovers itself on gallery walls and personal collections all over the country. His passion to capture emotions and notions of all he encounters is unrivaled. With a mischevious grin he rambles and gambles his wan into situations most of us wouldn't notice or would run away from. He puts his heart and soul into his work and he puts his life on the line to reach out and capture images that are out of reach or out of mind for most of us.

Steve is a National treasure and our discovery of that fact is still in its infancy. Rarely do you meet a person that has the gift of observation and the gumption to know the decisive moment in the life of each image.

It is a rare treat to view his work and more importantly the character who created the work. His charm and humor are one of a kind. From his home state of Minnesota to the many corners of American History his eye and visual wit will take your breath away."

~M. McGaver

A comment we have heard is,"I only wish I'd had you as our photographer for our wedding!" (~Adrienne R. DeBall).

When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.

Steve has been awarded the "Best of St. Paul 2008" for photographers and "Best of 2007" from Minnesota Meetings and Events as a Reader's Choice winner! Steve is one of a group of choice local artists featured in a new gallery in downtown, Mpls - the Karen Gallery. (details)

Congratulations on your engagement!

Did you know that 9 out of 10 couples were not happy with their wedding photos?

Hi! My name is Steve Rouch. I am a wedding and portrait photographer. I know this is a shocking statistic! You can't believe the brides and grooms that come up to me at the weddings I shoot with sad tales about their wedding photographer! There is nothing sadder than the look on their faces!

The sad truth is that everyone and their uncle have gotten into wedding photography today with their new digital cameras!

Wouldn't it be nice if all you had to do is buy a fork and suddenly the fork would make you a world class chef! That is the problem facing today's bridal couples and portrait consumers. It is easy to confuse a technological invention with artistry! The camera will NOT make you a photographer!

It takes years to learn how to light and pose and capture natural photojournalistic expressions.

The confusing thing about digital is that if the photographer takes 2,000 pictures at each wedding and 4 turn out to be fantastic….they can still come up with impressive web sites and portfolios. What you don't see is all the outtakes and bad photos the couple is saddled with.

There are THREE important things to look at when you hire a photographer:

1. The quality of the images combined with the percentage of images that are perfect. A Master photographer will give you a perfect image with every shot!

2. The personality of the photographer. A charming person during your interview may not handle stress well on the wedding day….ask for references about your photographer's reputation!

3. How stable is the business? We get calls from hysterical brides who “had their photographer back out or disappear just before their wedding.” We have done 2,000 weddings and have an iron clad reputation. We are very reliable!

Would you like 6 fantastic interviewing questions to ask before you hire your photographer? Consider these…
Here are 6 powerful ways you can check out each vendor you interview to weed out the bad apples.

1. Ask bridal shops who they refer and have heard good things about.

2. How booked was that photographer from November 1-April 30? Only the cream of the crop stays busy year round.

3. Ask for “random date referrals.” Everyone has “referrals.” Ask for ones that are from dates YOU pick so you really get a feel for the performance of the photographer.

4. Credentials. Are they are a “Master” photographer or “Voted best in State” or have many, many years of experience?

5. Ask to sample their work. You taste the cake at the cake place… have a head shot at the photographer's studio to see how they make you look.

6. Google the name of the actual person that will be doing the service for you. Some photographers barely exist and others are acclaimed far and wide.

Why not hire someone that is renowned versus a rookie that is going to school at your wedding?!
