Portrait Investments:
Pricing & Prop Information

You may not see a package or price to your liking. Feel free to contact us. We have a custom solution to fit your needs and almost every budget...we know you love the work...lets talk about how to make it affordable for you!

"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after
the sweetness of low price is forgotten" ~ John Ruskin

The least expensive investment you will ever make…….photography!
There are ways anyone can afford top quality portraiture…

Use images you invest in as gifts instead of going to a typical store to buy someone a necktie…..if you want to have that long awaited portrait session done, wait for birthdays, anniversaries, mother's day, father's day, valentines day and Christmas to give them as gifts….that way you don’t have to go into a store to purchase something that is not as desired or cherished as a life long lasting portrait!

Our typical session fees are $50 and prices for typical sizes run from $35 to $55 dollars….. (see more about this below) and we have an amazing selection of backgrounds and props to enhance your portraits!

(Engagement portraits are part of our wedding portfolio, and high school senior portraits have separate pricing and packages).

A portrait session with Steve Rouch is "the ultimate portrait experience!" Why? Steve is a master at making people look their absolute best! (More about this below)

“The Ultimate Portrait Experience”

Master Steve Rouch has traveled across the United States for the last 35 years studying the lost art of “classical fine art portraiture” with internationally renowned artists.

With the understanding of this art form, Steve is able to analyze each human face to find the most flattering angles. Steve has learned to literally “paint with light” with up to 7 lights in his camera room with precise directional capabilities. These lights put a twinkle in the eye, paint each strand of hair, play with highlight and shadow and sculpt images into breathtaking beauty.

Virtually all of Steve’s clients share the human concern of “not being photogenic” or “liking past pictures”. All humans share this feeling including Steve himself! He has been trained to help people look younger, slimmer and tanner than they ever dreamed. With the use of a sizeable monitor Steve works with each client to find the perfect outfit, background, soft flattering lighting, body language and expression to create a “work of art”.

Part of the magic of this experience is that when Steve was little he decided Peter Pan was right… It is NOT fun to grow up!!!…..so you will find him to be a playful and fun person to work with. He is the biggest 5 year old in town and he will invite the 5 year old in you “out to play” during the session.
(Not literally but he loves to have this experience be charged with laughter and happiness….don’t we all look out best when we feel this way?)

Of course you can bring loved ones to either be in the session with you or observe from another room thru a closed circuit TV. You will be amazed to see how Steve builds sets and backgrounds that perfectly blend with each clothing change so that each image created ends up looking like an Old Masters Painting! Steve loves to go outside as well to rustic settings that feature ivy covered walls, fences and trees….all just behind his studio.

A few days after your session is done you will be able to enjoy, view and choose your images with a fine artist as your presenter. Highlights of your session will be presented to you in a musical show with a “Ken Burns”
documentary feeling to the presentation! Each image will then be presented to you in approximately 30”x40” size on a huge screen in our “mini theatre”.
The magic is just beginning! Imagine having a fine artist at your disposal to sit with you as you go thru your session and transform images to your liking or sit back and marvel at their suggestions….!

“I would like to see that color image turned to sepia brown….could you crop it here just a little?….now could we make it lighter?…..can you remove that blemish?….my crows feet?” Watch as the image transforms to your most exacting specifications! What you see is what you will be getting so you will be assured of the ultimate in satisfaction!

Fine art portraiture is not expensive….its priceless and ironically the LEAST expensive investment you will ever make! Divide how long you will have the portrait into what your investment is and it works out to pennies a day!
(We honestly are known for our affordability….we do that by design because we love what we do and always want to be serving clients.)

This is just a brief description of the “portrait experience” with Steve Rouch. Steve is the only Master photographer in Mpls/St. Paul. He has won the Minnesota State wedding album competition and had his work selected for display at Epcot Center in Disneyworld. He has won numerous Kodak Gallery awards and is a Certified Professional Photographer.

Photography as an Investment

Here are more ways to think about photography….
Photography appears to be one of the more expensive items on earth and in fact it is the least expensive, when you consider the following . . .
Any economist at a University defines cost as dollar value divided by usage.
For instance a wedding dress costs $1000 and you use it one day. Therefore it is a $1000 unit of cost…since you one get one days use out of it. That same $1000 invested in portraits is only 6 cents a day assuming you only view and enjoy the images for 50 years. I am not saying you would be investing $1,000 in portraits but what I am saying is that the cost can be as low as 10 dollars at our studio…that is up to you….. (However I am still viewing and enjoying a portrait of my great great grandfather that was taken in 1857 (just 18 years after photography was invented). So his photography even in today's money cost him a fraction of a penny today for each day I enjoy it.)

We all have an almost obligation to show our descendants who we were and who we loved. Question….do you still have the money you made in the first paycheck you ever got? I don’t and most people don’t. We all spent it. Do you remember what you spent your first paycheck on? I don’t! I don’t even remember what I spent my paycheck on last month. What do I have to show for it? Most people spend their money on things that wear out, rust out or get thrown away. Ask you parents what they spent on their wedding album. Two typical answers…"I can’t remember" or "$150 bucks." Was $150 a lot of money then? YES! Is it now? NO! But they still have their album. And memories are all we really have left in the end…..

We work with people from all walks of life and have found that virtually everyone can afford our average prices…..we are not cheap like chain stores but then again, a teenager with two weeks experience won’t be taking your pictures…….
